Thorough planning of the hair transplantation procedure
A thorough planning of the density and volume of the new hair is part of a successful hair transplant procedure. To improve the looks of your hair it’s not necessary to aim for a high density of your hair. It’s enough to have 50-60 % of the original hair density to achieve a natural density of your new hair. The density and amount of hair differs from person to person and decreases with age. Only in those cases, when there are visible bald patches between hairs, a hair transplant operation is reasonable and safe. If new hairs are transplanted into gaps which are too small, there is a danger of damaging the existing hair roots. So, there exists a maximum possible density of transplanted hair. To achive a good visible result, from 35 to 50 grafts per cm² should be transplanted. This density can be increased up to 80 grafts per cm² in exceptional cases. The intended hair density depends on the wishes of the patient, the natural hair density, the hair strength in the donor site, the size of the donor site and the hair colour. The above-mentioned amounts of grafts can vary from patient to patient. Only after an intensive examination oft he donor site and the recipient site the exact number of grafts can be defined.
